Carnatic music lessons for children

“Psychologists, neuroscientists, and experts have demonstrated that music in early childhood does more development for children than bring them joy; it helps their brain cells make the connections needed for virtually every kind of intelligence.” Young children thrive on music. It’s one of the best vehicles for learning in early childhood development. Adding the Indian touch and cultural roots makes it a gift your child will cherish forever. Dr. Praphul Joshi will be teaching classical vocal music to kids at MHT. He is an accomplished musician and the community members have experienced his divine classical singing during festivals at MHT. We are very fortunate to have such talent within the community and the offer to teach our unique, heritage and culture with traditional classical lessons. 1) Children must be age 5 years and above. 2) Maximum number in the class will be 10. 3) Nominal fee of $30 per month for each child. 4) Classes conducted on Sunday at 11am at MHT. 5) Each class duration is 60 minutes. 1st Inaugural Class will start on Feb 2nd. Fees collected will go towards MHT development. So if anyone is paying by check, please make it to MHT. Registration is now closed

THANK YOU

Namaste MHT devotees, On behalf of Maine Hindu Temple, we would like to thank you for your support and contributions so far during the year 2013 calendar year. Through your contributions, you are helping to sustain MHT for Hindu community for future generation. We greatly appreciate your donation to MHT and hope that you will continue to extend your generous support during the holiday season and in the coming years. We are just few days away for the year 2013 and any donation made before year end 2013 has tax deduction advantage under 401 c (3). We take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who planned the religious events, taking care of the daily rituals, taking care of the building logistics, governance and other financial matters a grand success. We celebrated all major festival events like (Vasant panchami, Bhishma Ekadashi, Shankaracharya Jayanti, Maha Shivratri, Ram Navmi & Sri Sita Ram Kalyanam, Group Sri Satya Narayana Katha, Ayyappa Swami Puja, Gudi Padwa, Sankashthi Chaturthi, Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Guru Purnima, Navratri (Godess puja all 9 days), garba dandiya and Dussera (Sai Baba Samadhi day), Karva Chauth, Sri Lakshmi Puja on Diwali) and various functions (e.g. Sri Shirdi Sai Baba kirtan every Thursday) throughout the year 2013 attended by majority of devotees. We would like to see increased interest from our devotees in volunteering with various tasks for the year 2014. MHT Board has been focusing on getting the MHT per code with local civic authority with full certification of occupancy. We also completed significant, major necessary building infrastructure like environmental clean up, boiler room and balcony storage room dry wall as per fire department codes, smoke fire alarm system connected to the fire department and monitored by alarm company 24x7, replaced entire electrical system, heating conversion to gas for full certificate of occupancy. This required continuous discussions, dialogue, lobbying with the fire department, city code enforcement, and City officials like the Director and the Mayor. We have added full roof coverage with new architectural shingles to stop leaks in time before winter started. There have been suggestions to replace inside temple door with traditional Indian temple door, altar area, carpeting in the main temple sanctum floor (ideally downstairs community hall also). Any sponsorship is greatly appreciated. It is a well know belief that “Dharmo rakshati rakshitah” - religion protects those who protect religion. “Mandir Jirnoddhar” (renovation of an old dilapitated temple) is a very pious, rewarding seva (volunteer work). We do not get such an opportunity every day. Please support with any and every way you can, TAN (physical seva), MAN (prayers & religious activity participation), and DHAN (donations). We have lot more building renovation (e.g. insulation, basement heat zoning, restrooms and kitchen upgrade), cultural and religious activities ahead of us in the coming years and we seek your help and co-operation in accomplishing these tasks. MHT is planning 2014 religious activities similar to the above list from 2013 which will be published in MHT calendar. In the mean while, feel free to send your suggestions. Please support MHT generously so that MHT we can serve your family and entire Maine Hindu community religious needs with better services. Thank you MHT Board
