MHT Electronic Media Policy *

Overview :Any Information entrusted to Maine Hindu Temple(MHT) by its Board, volunteers, members, donors, and 3rd party business partners must be protected by taking reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure information’s confidentiality, integrity, and availability. All members of the MHT Board, volunteers, members, others, any other 3rd party workforce are required to comply with the information security policies.

Monitoring :To protect the interests of our Board, volunteers, members, donors MHT reserves the right to monitor, retrieve, and/or store any electronic media such as email, photos, videos, text, chat, website, Facebook posting, other group chat, any other social media posting, online service activity by individual user, or other material, in any communications services and equipment used. MHT reserves the right to access and disclose, for legitimate business and/or legal reasons, any electronic media sent through any communications services and equipment used by MHT.

Policy Violation : Any members, volunteers, and community members who violated this policy will be subject to appropriate legal action and termination of access to MHT electronic media and systems. Policy and General Expectations of Users : Any important official communications are often delivered via email, social media, chat group and website. MHT board, volunteers, members are responsible for their email, electronic device such as phone, laptop management including organization and cleaning. If a user subscribes to a mailing list, he or she must be aware of how to remove himself or herself from the list, and is responsible for doing so in the event that their current email address changes. All the Board, members, volunteers, and other users are expected to comply with normal standards of professional and personal courtesy and conduct. Also, the language used in the communication must not in any way seen as insulting, disruptive, or offensive to other persons, or harmful to morale such as forbidden transmissions include sexually-explicit messages, cartoons, or jokes, ethnic or racial slurs or any other message that can be construed to be harassment or disparagement of others based on their sex, race, sexual orientation, age, national origin, religious beliefs, or other personal characteristics or circumstances.   Inappropriate Use: Use of MHT electronics system will comply with all applicable laws, as well as all MHT governance and policies. The following activities are deemed inappropriate uses of MHT systems and services, so are prohibited.

⦁ Use of MHT electronics media and systems  for illegal or unlawful purposes, including copyright infringement, obscenity, libel, slander, fraud, defamation, harassment, intimidation, forgery, impersonation, soliciting for illegal pyramid schemes, and computer/phone tampering using spreading of viruses. ⦁ Use of MHT electronics media and systems in any way that violates MHT governance, policies, rules, or administrative process. ⦁ MHT prohibits personal use of its media and system and services for unsolicited mass, solicitations, mailings, political campaigning, dissemination of chain letters, and use by members, volunteers and others.

Monitoring and Confidentiality : The MHT electronics media and systems and services used at the temple are owned by the MHT organization, and are therefore its property. This gives MHT the right and responsibility to monitor any and all  traffic passing through its electronics media and systems. If MHT discovers or has good reason to suspect activities that do not comply with applicable laws or this policy, any electronics media may be retrieved and used to document the activity in accordance with due process.   Failure to Comply :Violations of this policy will be treated like allegations of wrongdoing at MHT. Inappropriate use of MHT media, systems and services may include, but are not limited to temporary or permanent revocation of access, disciplinary action decided by MHT and the community, termination of access and or legal action according to applicable laws and any contractual agreements.   * Disclaimer : This MHT Electronic Media Policy policy has been developed using open resources available in the internet.
